On street parking

ON STREET METERS

On Street Parking parking is in effect 8AM – 7PM Monday through Saturday. There is no charge for On Street parking on Sunday and major holidays (See Schedule Below)

CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT

  • Cost: Parking in Harrisburg’s Central Business District (CBD) is $4 per hour.
  • Payment Options:
    • Text to Pay – credit cards or debit cards only
    • Meters – quarters only
  • How to Pay:
    • Both T2P and meters will ask for your license plate number.
    • Then, you’ll pick how long you want to park and how you want to pay.
  • Minimum Payment:
    • If using a T2P, the minimum payment is $4 for 1 hour.
    • If using quarters at a meter, the minimum is one quarter for 5 minutes.
  • Extending Your Time:
    • With T2P, you will get a text that your parking is about to expire, you can add more
      time in 1-hour increments by responding to the text with the number of minutes you
      would like to extend (“60” for an hour, “120” for 2 hours, etc).
    • At a meter, you can add time in 15-minute increments

NEW MIDTOWN

  • Cost: Parking in New Midtown is $2 per hour.
  • Payment Options:
    • Text to Pay – credit cards or debit cards only
  • How to Pay:
    • T2P will ask for your license plate number.
    • Then, you’ll pick how long you want to park and how you want to pay.
  • Minimum Payment:
    • If using a T2P, the minimum payment is $2 for 1 hour.
  • Extending Your Time:
    • With T2P, you will get a text that your parking is about to expire, you can add more
      time in 1-hour increments by responding to the text with the number of minutes you
      would like to extend (“60” for an hour, “120” for 2 hours, etc).

OLD MIDTOWN AND SOUTH OF CBD

  • Cost: Parking in Old Midtown and South of CBD is $2 per hour.
  • Payment Options:
    • Text to Pay – credit cards or debit cards only
    • Meters – quarters only
  • How to Pay:
    • Both T2P and meters will ask for your license plate number.
    • Then, you’ll pick how long you want to park and how you want to pay.
  • Minimum Payment:

TEXT TO PAY (T2P)

Central Business District, New Midtown, and Old Midtown and South of CBD uses Text to Pay that allows you to extend your parking duration by phone. T2P payments are limited to credit card or debit card transactions, and apply a $0.35 cent transaction fee to each purchase. T2P will text you when your parking is about to expire. At that point, you can add time to your current parking session as prompted. You can only extend your parking by phone in increments of 1 hour. You must add time prior to your current session’s expiration. If it has already expired you will no longer be able to add time and will need to start a new T2P session.

2025 HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

Meter parking will not be enforced on the following dates recognized for the 2025 holiday schedule. Please note that safety violations will still be enforced on holidays.
  • New Years Day – January 1
  • Martin L. King Jr.’s Birthday – January 15
  • President’s Day – February 19
  • Good Friday – March 29
  • Memorial Day – May 27
  • Independence Day – July 4
  • Labor Day – September 2
  • Columbus Day – October 13
  • Veterans Day – November 11
  • Thanksgiving – November 27
  • Black Friday – November 28
  • Christmas – December 25
  • Day after Christmas – December 26

MULTI-SPACE METERS

The on-street meters are enforced Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Please see below for specifics on rates, payment options and time limits in each zone. In most areas, the rate is $4.00 per hour payable in 15-minute increments with quarters only. Enforcement of spaces outside the Park Harrisburg multi-space meter zone are according to the rates and hours published on the original single space meters.
